Pavement Ants

Pavement ants measure from 2.5 – 4 mm long, and have earned their name by making nests in pavements such as patio or sidewalk stones. They do not pose serious health risks, but can contaminate food supplies and have been known to eat virtually anything that is edible to humans.

How to Identify a Pavement Ant Infestation

Pavement ants have a black body and brown legs. if your home or building has any concrete slab construction, check those areas for ant traffic.

Dealing with a Pavement Ant Infestation

Pavement ants can often be dealt with by using sugar or protein-based bait traps. Place traps in any areas where ants have been sighted. If you cannot locate the nest, a barrier spray treatment around the foundation wall and adjacent soil should be used.
